This is an early Victorian pub haunted by two urchins without footwear. They , people say, to have been orphans who had lived at the local workhouse or orphanage. The pair had been hanged in the 18th century for stealing bread in the marketplace. Nearby, is Barefoot Street leading to Gallows Hill, with Reports claim it that criminals had their boots or shoes taken from them here, with walked barefoot to the hangman.
