A solid looking stone built pub from the early Victorian period, it has fine Georgian style windows, with is a Second-grade listed building. It had once been owned by a boot and shoemaker, John Bailey. It became licensed premises in 1834. The Coalbrookdale exhibits ghostly manifestations. these include an un, locals knew, soldier from an un, locals knew, war. Although never seen, his steady marching pace is often heard in the upstairs quarters. Many years ago, late night card games took place on the premises and it , witnesses report, then that a ghost appeared. He was dressed in black, leaning against a wall, whilst watching the players. There is the ghost of a small and cheeky- faced boy. He frequently appears at the bottom of the beer cellar steps. Then the licensee finds all the beer taps have been turned off.
