Blue Lias Inn
Stockton Road, Stockton, Rugby, Warwickshire
In a fabulous canal-side setting, the Blue Lias is an old inn that once catered to the men who carried goods and passengers along the 137-mile long Grand Union Canal. The ghost that appears here seems to have a particular agenda, with only manifests on a regular basis between March and November. Observers describe him as having red hair and strides through the pub after closing time. Legend has it that an assailant took his life here, or at a nearby house, when people found him in bed with another man’s wife. The pub name, Lias, is for a bluestone rock, rich in fossils from the Jurassic period. The inn sign at this pub is therefore apt: it shows a dinosaur.
