High Street, Stourbridge
It is a fabulous red brick building with history dating from the 1630s. The original proprietor named after a 15th century hunting dog bred by the Talbot family. It exhibits ghostly manifestations including the ghost of a woman whose child was stillborn. Legend has it that she was the mistress of a former proprietor in the 18th century. He buried the body of their illegitimate child in the building. Frequently, the phantom is that of the distraught mother who witnesses have seen in different parts of the hotel. When she manifests she is dressed in white and weeping.
