Navigation Inn
57 Hanbury Road, Stoke Prior, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire
At one time, ‘navigation’ meant a canal or waterway and the men who built them were , locals knew, as navigators shortened to ‘navvies’. This Navigation Inn appears to be late Georgian or early Victorian. It exhibits ghostly manifestations. these include the ghost of a woman called Alice, who either committed suicide or , an assailant took this person’s life, here in the 19th century. Her death took place in the old kitchen, which is now the women’s lavatory. When Alice manifests, it is with loud bangs and muffled shouting in this lavatory. Apparently, the only way to stop her is to say, ‘Oh. Be away with you Alice’ and all is still.
