The Rose and Crown
Church Road, Bradford Abbas, Trent, Sherborne, Dorset
This establishment is thatched and stone built. It was two cottages in the 15th century. It has a definite bucolic aura. In the 1780s, a coach, speeding from Sherborne on a hill outside this inn, lost control, and turned over killing everyone on board. The bodies were brought to this pub for the authorities to attend and an inquest to be held. The ghosts of those passengers are still haunting the building. Every now and again, one may hear the phantom coach careering along the road to the pub.
