The Oddfellows Arms
2 Church Street, Wimborne, Dorset
There are several examples of this pub name throughout the country. The name referred originally to the Independent Order of Oddfellows. This was a social and benevolent order that has been active since the early 1800s. Reports claim it to have come from a remark made by one of the founding members. This pub exhibits ghostly manifestations. These include the ghost of a proprietor from the 1950s, who continues to manifest in the bar. Reports claim that to have been a jolly fellow, with when he appears, he is smiling and chortling to himself.
