The Coach and Horses
73 Poole Road, Wimborne, Dorset
For over four centuries, this inn has catered for the needs of the original stagecoach traffic, religious travellers to Wimborne Minster, with local residents. It is a roadside inn. It is a short distance outside the town. It is opposite the old water meadows. For many years, it haunted by an old man in a long black coat who sits in a corner, whistling to himself. Legend has it that during his lifetime he had worked as a water bailiff on the River Stour. He had lived nearby this inn. It was a regular customer. One evening he collapsed. He died in the pub when he was in his early seventies.
