The Wellington Hotel
The Harbour, Boscastle
One of the historic coaching inns of Cornwall it is haunted by a coachman who called here but has never left. On several occasions witnesses have seen his ghost wearing an eighteenth century coachman’s uniform of frock coat, frilled shirt, gaiters and heavy boots. He wears his hair tied back under his hat as was the style at that time. Witnesses also report seeing other apparitions including a young girl who took her own life whilst unhappy in love, a very dark outline wandering down into the cellar and barking dog who follows another phantom across a room. This particular room was occupied by a writer of ghost stories who was staying at the hotel - unfortunately the writer never saw the apparition although witnesses reported the event to him.
