Ye Olde George Inn
2A Castle Street, Christchurch, Dorset
Here, at this six centuries old inn, a Grey Lady walks. Some years ago, a priest- hole someone found during renovation, with inside was a torn, old-fashioned shirt, along with shoes and a heap of bones. Licensees over the years have seen plates slowly turning on tables. One particular, well-secured Victorian print continually crashes from the wall. Wine bottles that have been put out on separate tables finish up gathered on one table. The folks named Christchurch on a legend that as builders were building the parish church, they could not fit one important beam .A strange carpenter appeared one day and, when all others were sleeping, completed the task. He disappeared. The artisans said they had been helped by Christ himself.
