Sir Christopher Wren Hotel and Spa
Thames Street, Windsor
Although a fine example of 18th-century architecture there is no proof that Sir Christopher Wren either designed or owned this property. Now a Grade II listed building, it was a private manor house until the 1920s. For centuries, it was reputed to be haunted. When Baroness Vaux occupied it all of the servants marched out as they maintained they were terrified of the ghosts. Phantoms roamed the vast building and the servants claimed that the phantoms could murder them in their beds. They described the most frequently seen manifestation as a tall man wearing a black or dark coloured suit.
