63 Wishing Tree Road North, Hollington, St. Leonards-On-Sea, East Sussex, Hastings
A two years old girl reported an apparition here with gusts of laughter. All the child could say was, “Funny face’’. She had told her mother that this man was dressed in black, with had a wide and happy smile, before he disappeared. Over the years, there have been stories of curious bumping sounds and footsteps in an empty room. The ghost is of a middle-aged woman. She wears early Victorian style clothing and witnesses have seen, sitting in the pub, with to then disappear. Minutes later, the same woman , witnesses see, on the pavement outside, pushing a pram. Wishing trees are not so widely , locals knew, as wishing wells. An individual dropping a coin into such a wishing well is continuing the same belief of the Celts, when they released human heads into wells to bring good luck and fortune.
