7 Alderley Street, Ashton-Under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, Ashton-under-Lyne
There are several pubs with this name throughout England, with originally it referred to the Independent Order of Oddfellows, a social and benevolent society. The society has been active since the early 19th century and said to have derived its name from a remark made by one of the founding members. This Oddfellows was a family pub, one of which was here for three generations and two of those former proprietors are still in residence as ghosts. They have been recognised from old photographs, with are usually seen together, sitting at a table or walking through a room.
