The Most Haunted Places in Stockport
We updated the listings for Stockport when we discovered that the derelict St Thomas’s Hospital received another reporting. St Thomas’ Hospital (also a former workhouse) closed in 2004. In 2015, a woman investigating the forsaken clinic was left shocked after she took a chilling photograph.
Our Lady’s club is next door to St Thomas’s Hospital. The club is truly one of Stockport’s hidden gems. Our Lady’s is not haunted. However, due to its proximity to the haunted hospital, we list this hostelry: Our Lady’s Club.
We also went in search of The Duke of Clarence Hotel in Portwood, Stockport. It received a mention in a book called “Shadows” by Steve Cliff. In that book, the author entertains that The Duke of Clarence Hotel could have become part of the motorway. He never clearly established whether the building still existed or not, as his information was second-hand. Sadly, we could find no trace of The Duke of Clarence when we went to see for ourselves. We list The Duke of Clarence Hotel.
