Fox and Pheasant Inn
This is a fine country inn with a most apt and bucolic name. It also has a number of ghosts. Several licensees have seen a ghostly woman in old-fashioned brown clothing. She walks in through the front door even thought is is locked, peers around for a few seconds as though looking for someone and then disappears. Legend has it that she is a woman who lived nearby and sadly lost both of her children when they were knocked down and killed by a coach outside the pub. A highwayman who had been criminally active in the area in the 18th century was caught and hanged and is also said to haunt the inn.
