Ye Olde Vaults
28 Bridge Street, Chester, Cheshire
Beforehand known as 'Ye Olde Vaults', and dating from 1789, the hostelry was later named after William Barlow, the dedicated proprietor in 1898. His sole reason in life appeared to be keeping up the incredibleness of this establishment and its brew. However, the hostelry was restored in 1900 and different proprietors made a few improvements. These were not to the liking of Mr Barlow. For a long time, regulars asserted to hear uproarious blasts, moans and wails radiating from his disturbed soul.
