The Lord Nelson Inn
Monkton Villa Monkton Village, Jarrow, Tyne and Wear
Named after one of England’s greatest heroes, this Lord Nelson is not an ancient building. However, it built on the site of a previous pub, also the Lord Nelson. It has a mock Tudor façade, which was typical of pub architecture in the 1920s. Over the years, there have been stories of a ghostly figure that makes an appearance. Observers describe him as looking nothing like what one would expect of a ghost. He is wearing modern clothing with an open neck shirt and light coloured trousers. The phantom , witnesses see, behind the bar counter, to walk from one end to the other and then disappear.
