Ye Olde Red Lion
17 Park Road, Cheam, Surrey, Sutton
Originally, an ancient pub, it now presents as an1890s style of building, with some contemporaneous gabling and decoration. However, in the modern style of architecture that is now Sutton High Street, the Red Lion stands out as a veritable beacon. There have been many stories over the years of the ghosts and apparitions that haunt the pub. Licensees have suffered at the hands of poltergeists and some phantoms. The most frequent is a large woman dressed in agricultural clothing of the late 19th century, holding what appears to be a corn sickle. She usually manifests on the upper floor.
