The Magpie and Stump
18 Old Bailey, London, Greater London, London City
A pub with over 500 years of history must surely be haunted. It was rebuilt in 1931 on the site of the original pub in an alleyway opposite the Old Bailey, which was built on the site of Newgate Gaol. Until 1868, the upper room of the pub was rented out on execution days to afford the wealthy the best view of executions for that day. Perhaps this provides some clue to the ghostly crowd that has been heard here shouting and jostling.
