The Bell Inn
10 St James St, Castle Hedingham, Halstead, Essex
It is one super country former coaching inn. It has a history from the 15th century. Here there remains a small-protected section of wattle and daub construction. Inside the Bell Inn are bare brick walls, open fires and much in the way of upright. The Ceiling beams and the stage area was once part of the old pantry, with the old meat hooks are still visible on the beams. Witnesses have seen a venerable old man and He knocks on doors in the early hours of the morning. This might well be the ghost of a long dead servant, who haunts the inn. Another apparition is held responsible for pulling away bedclothes from people as he or she sleep.
